3-Day Errachidia Desert Tour

Day 1 – Errachidia Airport, Ziz Valley, Erfoud and Merzouga

Your experienced multilingual driver-guide will welcome you at Errachidia Airport before driving through the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its extensive palm groves and desert landscapes.

In Erfoud, visit a local fossil workshop and discover how trilobites, orthoceras, ammonites and other fossils are excavated, polished and transformed into decorative objects.

Continue toward Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and overnight in your riad, with breakfast included.

Day 2 – Erg Chebbi, Nomadic Families, Tamrdanite and Khamlia

After breakfast at your riad, begin a tour around the Erg Chebbi dunes near the Algerian border. Stop to photograph the desert scenery and observe the area’s distinctive black volcanic rocks.

Visit a nomadic family and learn about their traditional desert lifestyle. Continue through small Berber villages, including Tamrdanite, before reaching Khamlia.

In Khamlia, enjoy a live performance of Gnawa music, a spiritual musical tradition preserved for generations by the village’s community.

Return to the Merzouga and Erg Chebbi area for the night.

Day 3 – Erg Chebbi Sunrise, Rissani and Errachidia Airport

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, travel by car to Rissani, the former capital of the Alaouite sultans and an important historical stop for trans-Saharan caravans.

Explore the traditional market and local souk. Visit the remains of Sijilmassa, the Moulay Ali Cherif Gate and the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif.

After lunch in Rissani, continue to Errachidia Airport in time for your flight.
