Mohammed Masoudi

My name is Mohammed Masoudi, and I work in tourism in Morocco as a local guide and trip organizer. Mountains are an important part of what I do, especially Taghia and the High Atlas, but my work also takes travellers toward Morocco’s desert regions, cities and other natural destinations. My goal is to help visitors organize their journey and discover the places they came to Morocco to experience.

Taghia is at the heart of my work. Surrounded by large limestone cliffs, mountain valleys and traditional trails, the village is a base for hiking, climbing and discovering life in the High Atlas. I help travellers who come to Taghia for mountain experiences and also welcome visitors who stay at our guesthouse in the village.

Accommodation is part of the experience I offer in Taghia. Our guesthouse provides a mountain stay for travellers coming to hike, climb, explore the area or simply spend time in a quieter part of Morocco. Staying in Taghia also makes it possible to remain close to the trails, cliffs and landscapes that attract visitors to the village.

I organize trekking and mountain journeys through different parts of the High Atlas. These trips can connect valleys, mountain villages, high passes and remote landscapes over several days. The current experiences include routes involving Aït Bouguemez and Taghia as well as journeys around Mount M’Goun and Mount Toubkal.

One of the mountain journeys connects Aït Bouguemez with Taghia. The route passes through mountain landscapes, shepherd trails, high pastures and areas such as Lake Izoughar and Tizi n’Tighboula before reaching Taghia. It is a way to experience the High Atlas gradually rather than visiting only one village or one viewpoint.

I also organize trekking experiences around Mount M’Goun. The current itinerary presented on the website travels through areas including Agouti, Berber villages, Azib n’Ikiz and the Tarkedit Plateau before the mountain ascent. This type of journey is designed for travellers who want several days in the High Atlas and a deeper mountain experience.

Mount Toubkal is another mountain destination included in the trips I organize. The itinerary presented on the website starts from the Imlil area and continues toward the Toubkal Refuge before the summit section. It offers travellers another way to experience Morocco’s High Atlas through a multi-day mountain route.

Taghia is also an important destination for climbing. I help organize climbing experiences for travellers coming to discover its limestone walls and mountain environment. Because climbing trips are different from ordinary sightseeing, planning depends on the objective of the visitor, the climbing they want to do and the conditions of the trip.

My climbing activities are not limited to Taghia. I also organize climbing experiences in Todra, allowing travellers to include another Moroccan climbing area in their itinerary. This can be part of a dedicated climbing journey or a wider trip through Morocco.

Tafraout is another destination where I organize climbing experiences. For travellers who want to discover several climbing regions during one trip to Morocco, Taghia, Todra and Tafraout can form different stages of a broader climbing itinerary.

My work also includes desert journeys. The desert itinerary currently presented on the website begins from Errachidia and continues through the Ziz Valley, Erfoud and the Merzouga region, giving travellers an experience very different from the High Atlas.

The road toward the desert introduces travellers to the landscapes around Errachidia, the Ziz Valley and Erfoud. It creates a gradual journey toward the Sahara region rather than treating the desert as an isolated stop.

The journey continues toward Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. This part of the trip focuses on the desert environment and allows travellers to experience the landscapes that make southeastern Morocco very different from the mountain regions.

The desert itinerary can also include Khamlia and Rissani. The current program combines the landscapes around Erg Chebbi with local culture, Gnawa music in Khamlia and historical places around Rissani.

I also organize experiences for travellers who want to discover Marrakech. The city tour currently presented on the website combines the historic medina, traditional souks, important monuments, Majorelle Garden and the modern Gueliz district. It provides a city experience that can be combined with a mountain or desert journey.

For travellers looking for a day outside Marrakech, I also organize trips to the Ouzoud Waterfalls. The experience combines the journey from Marrakech with walking, viewpoints and time around the waterfall area before returning to the city.

Some travellers come to Morocco mainly for climbing. Others want a High Atlas trek, a desert journey, a city experience or a few nights in Taghia. My role is to help connect these different parts of the trip so that the journey matches what the traveller actually wants to experience.

The travellers I work with can have very different plans. Some travel alone, others as couples, families, friends or climbing and trekking groups. The organization of a trip can therefore depend on the destination, number of people, length of stay and activities requested.

Many of the places I work with are connected to mountains, villages and landscapes outside Morocco’s busiest tourist centres. Taghia in particular offers a very different atmosphere from a large city. Combining these places with destinations such as Marrakech or the desert gives travellers the opportunity to experience several sides of Morocco in one journey.
