Aït Bouguemez Valley

The trek begins with the journey from Marrakech to the Aït Bouguemez Valley and Zaouiat Oulmzi at 2,000 m. The valley includes walnut and apple orchards, viewed from the guesthouse terrace while enjoying traditional mint tea.

Lake Izoughar

The route continues along shepherd trails to temporary Lake Izoughar at 2,600 m. The lake was formed after a large landslide, and the day ends with an overnight stay in tents.

Tizi n’Tighboula Pass

The trek crosses high Atlas pastures towards Tizi n’Tighboula Pass at 3,000 m. Along the way, hikers may encounter goats, sheep and occasionally dromedaries, while wheat and barley fields contrast with the rugged mountain scenery.

Taghia Valley

The route from Tizi n’Tighboula to Taghia includes a more challenging hike and panoramic views of the Taghia Valley before descending gradually to the village at 1,900 m, located at the foot of towering cliffs.

Day 1

Marrakech – Zaouiat Oulmzi (Aït Bouguemez)

Departure from Marrakech to the stunning Aït Bouguemez Valley. Upon arrival at Zaouiat Oulmzi, check in at the guesthouse. Enjoy a traditional mint tea on a terrace overlooking walnut and apple orchards, typical of the valley.

Zaouiat Oulmzi – Lake Izoughar

A gentle hike through shepherd trails and past grazing flocks, with spectacular views across the valley. In the afternoon, reach the temporary Lake Izoughar, formed after a large landslide.

Lake Izoughar – Tizi n’Tighboula Pass

Easy hiking across high Atlas pastures. Encounter goats, sheep and occasionally dromedaries. Wheat and barley fields create a striking contrast with the rugged mountains.

A more challenging hike with breathtaking panoramic views of the Taghia Valley. Descend gradually to the charming village of Taghia, nestled at the foot of towering cliffs.

Exploring Berber Mountain Passes

A 4-hour hike into the mountains to discover ancient trails carved by Berber shepherds. The ascent to the base of Mount Aoujdad offers dizzying views of the limestone cliffs. Return to the guesthouse for the night.
